Alberta's regulated online market

Alberta's regulated online gaming market launched on July 13, 2026. Two bodies share the work. The Alberta iGaming Corporation, or AiGC, manages the market, and AGLC regulates it. An online operator must register with AGLC and sign an operating agreement with AiGC to operate legally. Registration and the operating agreement are two separate steps, and both are required.

At launch, 22 registered iGaming sites were approved. That number refers to launch, so the directory described below is the place to see the list. Each registered operator must make sure that only players physically located in Alberta can play. The rule concerns where the player is during play.

Play Alberta, at PlayAlberta.ca, is the province's own online gaming site. AGLC runs it, and its revenue goes to the Government of Alberta.

Checking an online operator

AiGC keeps a directory of registered iGaming sites at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites. A player can look up an operator's name there before playing. If an operator is not in the directory, it is not regulated. Approved operators display the AiGC logo. The logo is a visible sign, but the directory is the record to check.

The legal gambling age in Alberta is 18. Casino staff must check valid government-issued photo ID for anyone who appears to be under 25. At Red Deer Resort & Casino, guests must be 18 or older to enter the casino floor.

How this guide is paid

The guide takes no bets and has no accounts. Paid links appear only on its home page, each marked Ad. There are three: one in the menu, one in a block just below the first screen and one near the end of the page. All three lead to the same private online casino partner, which pays the guide a commission. The partner can change, so it is not named here.

Anyone advertising an online gaming site in Alberta must follow AGLC's standards. Ads must carry a responsible gambling message and must not target minors or use people who appear to be minors. They must not link gaming to attractiveness or status.
